Comet NEOWISE Over the Gap of Dunloe, KerryJuly 2020, and Comet NEOWISE was visible in Irish skies for a handful of nights. I drove to the Gap of Dunloe in Kerry, hoping for a clear view to the northwest above the valley. The cloud that evening was low and heavy, glowing amber from the last residual light below the horizon. For a while I thought the comet would be lost behind it. Then there it was, bright nucleus and that long diffuse tail, tracking across the deep blue above the mountains.
